Excellent place to live if you're looking for somewhere quiet and away from the parties but with a quick drive up Route 51 to campus. There is also a bus stop steps away which was very convenient when my car was in the shop. Building was nice and costs were reasonable. David Miller, the landlord, was very understanding when I had to take a semester off rather suddenly for medical reasons. When I return to SIU, I definitely plan to live here again.

I lived in a one bedroom apartment in Southern Pointe Apartments for a year and my experience was great. The 2200 building is tucked into a private little fenced in corner with Arnie's sandwiches and Arnold's Market (both Carbondale staples) right down the street. SIUC is only a mile away and I easily got there by bicycle when the weather was nice. The SIUC bus system, Saluki Express, also has a stop right next to the building and students can ride for free. The water is provided with rent as well as the lawn maintenance, trash, and free cable. The landlord, David Miller, was great. Any time I had a problem he would show up and take care of it immediately. During the summer of my stay the air conditioner went out and within a week David had the whole system replaced and working better than ever. The neighbors were always quiet as they were mostly middle aged with a few graduate students sprinkled in. When I stayed there I had to leave to do laundry, but now he has added an on-site laundromat which is a huge plus!
I recommend Southern Pointe Apartments to anybody that wants a fairly priced and stress free tenant experience so that they can focus on school or work.
