I had an awful experience, and was doing everything I could to explain what appeared to be errors in their system while also tolerating very rude behavior from their staff.
…a year later and the owner STILL suggested it was my fault😅quite funny at this point.
In the end, I’m SO relieved I didn’t with these folks👌

This rental was easy to find, the lock box was easy to operate and most importantly it is a perfect fit for what I’m looking for. I appreciated the reminders and efficient set up. I do hope to speak with a live person soon.

I have looked at a number of rentals offered by Real Estate 831. Their process is super easy and straightforward and allows for flexibility in schedule. When you work 9 to 5 Monday through Friday it's not always easy to find a place to rent because a lot of the property management companies schedule their showings during the middle of the week in the middle of the day. I like real estate 831 because they offer a variety of types of rentals and a good range. I think the units I've seen so far offered by them have been reasonably priced for this area. Not necessarily a great deal because we are in Santa Cruz but not ridiculously expensive either. I hope I get the place I just looked at and that I can come back to this review and update it saying how awesome of a property management company they are from the renter's perspective as well. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. We were scheduled for a showing for 1 PM today (Saturday afternoon). We drove from the Sacramento area to Santa Cruz (3 hours). When we go to the house at 12:50 PM, we opened the lockbox per their emailed directions. To our surprise, there wasn't a key in the lockbox. We called the office and an answering service took the message. We were told that someone would call us back immediately. Two hours later, still no call. We drove three hours back to Sacramento without being able to see the listing. It is 7:00 PM and still no call from anyone at the company. Very unprofessional.

Update 4/30 - RE 831 reached out to me. It turns out the owner had a contractor do some work, and the contractor took the key with them. The owner offered a $100 gift card for the inconvenience.

I moved in 8 months ago and so far so good! They are very attentive. Prior to moving in, my complaint was the length of time to get the background check back...then I realized that it means that they are doing it to everyone and that is important when you are single momma with a kiddo! Safety! I would absolutely rent from them again in the future.

Worst Property Management I’ve ever experienced in my 57 years. My Son is Disabled and you have the worst Customer Service when it comes to the Disabled Community. Your Service Repairs take to long. You don’t take care of the Surrounding Areas for Bugs/Ants. If your Visually Impaired and you have Ants how would you like to eat them because you can’t see them on your Food or Counter Tops or inside the Shower, Fridge on your Toothbrush and even in your Bed. It’s NOT because we are dirty people because we are not. Inside Products don’t take care of the problem that is coming from outside. I requested that you contact someone to spray like the First Property Management did Yearly. You said you don’t do that. I’ve also never had so many issues with the Portal or the handling of Relief Monies credited to the Account. You have caused my Son Financial Hardship while living on a Fixed Income living Independently on numerous occasions due to Bank Fees. No need to Call me I have nothing else to Say to you about your poor Business practices.
