My Agent passed away suddenly….he did not plan on dying. When I called Birmingham they too me he should not have died with without turning account over to someone. Daaa! After several calls asking for a Protective agent to talk to discuss my wife and my policies, I’m still waiting for a return call. I don’t think I asking for something unusual. Any one would like to have any Agent to discuss……specially since I’ve been making a month payment for 30+ years.

If I could give negative stars I would. They lost paperwork, lied, put me off, etc. Since the fall of 2023 I have called almost 20 times trying to resolve the issue. I have talked to so many people and keep getting put off. Finally, I decided to just surrender the policy. I was so sick and tired of their ineptness. Again, I'm back to calling and hearing more lies and excuses. Finally, today, I found out that they canceled the policy instead of surrendering it and sending a check. I've filed complaints with the attorney general in both indiana and Alabama. I've also filed complaints with insurance regulatory agencies in both states. I've had it with them!! Buy your insurance somewhere else!!

My mom passed away a couple months ago. The customer service person I spoke to said that when I sent them information to prove my mom passed and who I was they would tell me how much the policy is worth. I have sent the company all the information they requested. The lady lied to me on the phone and refused to tell me the policy's worth value. Every time I call I get the run around regarding the policy amount. This company is horrible to work with. From all the negative reviews I have read here, I would think that management would do something about the people who work for this company and make it so much better. I am still waiting for the information to be mailed to me to change the policy to my name. I bet the paperwork will never be mailed to me. This company and its customer service people are the worst.

It took three months to cancel a life insurance policy, and once cancelled I had to keep bothering them for weeks to get a refund of prepaid premium. Will not do business with Protective again.

This company is a complete NIGHTMARE to deal with. I have spent a year now trying to get the name of my policy into my married name and change the ownership from the deceased. Have filled out so much paperwork, sent death certificate, etc. and now I received a condolence letter for MY death. Unbelievable!!! Cannot get one person to help me straighten out this mess.

We submitted the paperwork to cash out my late mother-in-law's policy in August 2023. We received the check today, in late June 2024, so not quite a full year later. I don't know if they were deliberately stonewalling us in order to keep the money for longer, or if they are just extremely disorganized and stupid. Maybe both. Do not recommend.

The company was great for 20 years while I paid each monthly payment in full on always on time. However when the policy was surrendered, I rec'd a runaround for 3 months while my surrender value plummeted to nearly nothing, at which time the wrote the check. Be aware of this big company as they clearly do NOT CARE. Cant tell you how many hours I wasted on the phone.

They cancelled my policy after the previous payment did not go through, they sent 1 mailed letter and that was it before canceling it. It wasn’t even a late payment, Protective Life knew it didn’t go through and just sent a mailed note of this. We were in the middle of selling, moving, and dealing with a family health emergency. This should be illegal. They don’t train their employees as some told me it was mail notification only then another said they started text and phone call notification sometime in 2023. I asked them if they communicated these changes to employees as well as customers but I never saw anything. I appealed this and reapplied but was denied. They are crooks and should be investigated by SEC. They lock down their departments, specifically the ones who review the applications, as well as management so you can’t talk to anyone. FRAUDS!!! Do not give them a cent. I will be filing complaint with Attorney General.
