Brenda has been my property manager in Boulder for more than 30 years. She has worked tirelessly and done a good job at solving the inevitable problems that have arisen in a timely, competent, and economical manner. Her experience and extensive local network have been a key factor in the success of my real estate investments.

I've been meaning to post this but it angers me to even think about them. A year onward from dealing with this company and I’ve never been happier to cut services with a business. Pennant Investment displays an utter lack of professionalism and responsibility whenever you are forced to deal with them. On every occasion where my roommates and I talked to them, we were screwed over, not given vital information and treated like nothing more than a source of income. I was astounded at how many times the owner, Brenda, ignored our pleas and issues and then pushed the blame on the tenants. Their extreme focus on greed and lack of empathy means I will never attempt to rent from Pennant Investment, and will continually save my friends from them as well. This company will place the blame on anything other than themselves in an attempt to save some cash and should never be trusted as your landlord.

With all of the issues that occurred while I rented from Pennant Investment, there was one very big positive: their handyman, John, is incredibly fast to arrive, fast to repair, and very nice in general. We loved his professionalism in an organization that lacks so much of it. Their receptionists were nice as well.

Below is a list detailing issues that occurred over an 8 month period; after those months, it became too draining to keep up with Pennant’s actions and journal it all.

Upon signing the lease, we were informed that we needed to pay $2500 by closing that day. Despite never being told of this, we were expected to have that money in hand by the end of the work day: in 6 hours! What could've been simple became a rush to get completed.

Just 3 days before move-in, we were informed that if requested, we would’ve had to deconstruct an entire bedroom loft (that is built into the house!) for their next tenants.

Right before moving in, we were informed that we’d have no kitchen: no appliances, countertops or sink for an indeterminable timeframe. While we received light compensation for this issue, we lived without a kitchen for a month and 2 days. The money spent on ordering food far surpassed any compensation, but further requests were shut down instantly because “you can microwave groceries for a month”. We did not sign a lease for a property with no kitchen.

The property was not cleaned whatsoever when we arrived. My roommates and I spent 4-5 days scrubbing dirt and stickers off the walls, cleaning the floor and deck area. My roommate was so disgusted with the carpeted stairs that he purchased a huge fancy vacuum in hopes it could salvage those steps.

Upon moving in, we realized both the washing machine and dryer were non-functional. We understood how shipping backups could have slowed down appliance installation and patiently waited 1 month for a handyman to install a new one. Unfortunately, the dryer did not work with the house; I called Pennant 2-3 times over the next month looking for updates, but the only answer I received back was that it was delayed, and I would receive an update when something changes. 3 months after the initial (failed) installation, I sent a reminder. They had forgotten about the issue, and assumed it was resolved!!! Completely professional, right? The owner, Brenda, proceeded to place the responsibility on myself and my roommates for failing to remind them of the issue. How does that work? I’ve never heard of a company placing blame on their customers because they forgot something! We were asking for a light rent reduction due to costs and lack of amenities, but what we received was an unprofessional, selfish reply stating how the forgetfulness of this company is anyone but their own fault. This company will place the blame on anything other than themselves.

We cleaned thoroughly in order to have the property ready for the next tenants after we moved out. We were forced to hire a professional carpet cleaner who confirmed with us that no one had cleaned in years. These accusations confirmed what we believed upon moving in, but Pennant had repeatedly denied these claims and forced us to cover.

Like others with recent experience, I also have faced a terrible time with Pennant Investment and its manager, Brenda. I can never work with this company ever again. It has been so horrible. Someone could make a documentary about my experience here and it would move a person to anger and/or tears...It has been a tremendous mistake putting my trust into Pennant Investment and its manager. Leaving is a necessity for my sanity and well being. I am truly relieved that my lease expires soon. Mercy! How could leasing from Pennant Investment turn out so poorly for me.

As an owner, I would not use anybody else. I find Brenda at Pennant to be honest and straight forward. They are always looking out for my investment. I have not had a bad tenant since I switched to Pennant. I use to take care of all my properties, and I did not want to spend the extra money. But I can honestly say with Pennant I am less stressed and have more time to do what I want. Anyways thats my 2 cents.

Pennant Investment Company has been managing my Colorado rental properties since the early 2000s. Pennant provides top-notch, professional property management services. Brenda Feldman is extremely knowledgeable about property maintenance, tenant relations and other key aspects of property management. She and her staff are very easy to reach, and they respond to voicemail messages and email messages very quickly. These qualities are important to me because I am an out-of-state landlord. I recommend Pennant Investment Company without hesitation.

We rented for two years in downtown Boulder and it was a pleasant experience. The office seemed to be a little short staffed most of the time, but everyone was always super nice anyways. Moving out next week, so can’t speak for the deposit return, but leaving our place in better shape then when we arrived so hoping for a check back! Thanks Pennant and Brenda!!
