ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had insurance here for years. My experience is that over the years the customer service has degraded as the agency has grown. I recently sold the home I had insured with Maria Britton in California, and it has been a a bit of a nightmare over the past month to get them to even tell me if they canceled my California Fair Plan policy. I finally elevated the string of emails on this topic to Maria Britton, and she immediately chastised me for emailing "after hours" (5 PM) and not calling the office. She made no apology for the multiple unkept commitments to get back to me by specific dates from her office that were documented in the email. I wish I would have known the true colors of this broker owner years ago so that I could have chosen another company for my insurance needs.
FIRST RESPONSE. In original agency response to to this review, the agency inferred I was a little crazy by saying it was "concerning" I wrote the review at 2:30 AM. This was my reply: ( Maria I wrote this review in the afternoon - google takes time to post reviews, so your attempt to paint me as "concerning" for posting at 2 in the morning below is not accurate - yet another example of painting your customer as the problem and not taking ownership for your customer service. FYI I called Fair Plan myself yesterday and discovered your office never did cancel my insurance for an entire month after the sale of my home - I'm now working with them directly to get that extra month refund back.)
SECOND RESPONSE: The agency deleted their first response, and instead wrote that I was "verbally abusive" and "refused to talk on the phone" in their second reponse to my review. Both statements are untrue. I originally called the office to tell them my home sold. They reqeusted I email them a copy of my closing doc, which I did. I asked them in my email to tell me when they had informed Fair Plan of the cancellation. The agent promised to let me know. Two weeks later I asked for status. The agent emailed back with a "thanks for your patience, I'll get back to you tomorrow". I did not hear from them as promised and elevated to the broker after a month. No verbal abuse, but I did point out in my cc to Maria Britton that two prior commitments to get back to me with confirmation of cancellation had not been met. Truth hurts, evidently.

In addition to the poor customer service I've experienced, I can now say that this agency is not above being untruthful to counter a poor review. It's ironic, this poor review could have been avoided with a simple "I'm sorry" from Maria and a quick followup on unkept promises. Instead, she decided to make me the problem, and here we are.

Avoid at All Costs – Unprofessional and Incompetent!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Maria Britton - Farmers Insurance is hands down the most unprofessional, incompetent, and misleading insurance agency I have ever dealt with.

I received a quote for a bundled auto and home insurance policy, agreed to move forward, and canceled my previous insurance based on their word. That’s where the nightmare began.

For two straight weeks, they strung me along, constantly asking for more documents—even after I had submitted everything they requested. Just when I thought the ordeal was over, they had the audacity to reject my policy because I didn’t submit service records for a car that is TWO MONTHS OLD—a car that doesn’t even require servicing yet!

This agency is nothing but a bunch of scammers who waste your time, put you at risk, and leave you uninsured after you’ve already canceled your previous coverage. Their complete lack of professionalism and disregard for their customers is beyond disgraceful.

Do yourself a favor: RUN, don’t walk, away from this agency and find a competent insurance provider that won’t put you in jeopardy. Absolute garbage company.
