After being a long time customer of Farmers from out of state, and when moving my mother and then purchasing a multi unit dwelling in my hometown area of Huntley/Algonquin area, I of course looked for an agent. The purchase of the dwelling came later and I wished to change to more established agent in town that I would have hoped would have the knowledge and hometown feel that I was expecting.. Wow was I wrong. When I first called I was nicely greeted by her office staff who was welcoming and professional. I explained that I wanted to switch to their agency and she mistakenly told me I had to call customer service at Farmers/Foremost. She transferred, where I was told that the agent was the one that had to initiate the transfer. I then called the agent back and got Bridget on speaker phone. From there, before I could explain to her what I needed, she would only listen to only half what I had to say before interrupting, whereas had no clue what I was asking for. From there I was inundated with her wanting to sell me new policies for what I didn't even need or was even asking for. After getting her to half listen, stating that I just wanted to transfer my current policies to her agency she then also stated that I would have to do that with customer service. Me stating "no" they just sent me back to you because that is something she would have to initiate. Because she doesn't listen...she again asked me all the details of the property and the vehicle in question and that she would have to check into how to do the transfer. Fast forward a week or so to today.. Received a call from Bridget, stating that she could not get me a new policy for my mother at the same price as my current policy. I said: "What?!?! I never wanted a new policy I just wanted to transfer to her agency..." The current polices were less than 6 months old. And I had just got them straightened out with the current agent. She then again said "Well you'll have to do that with customer service. I said "No" they stated that is something you do...
By that time I was so frustrated I said "just forget it" And she stated... "Yes why don't we just do that"
The most unprofessional agent I have ever dealt with. She claimed to have 30 years in the business and 11 years I believe in Huntley... she didn't know one of the most well established streets of 60 years "in town".
Listen before you speak, maybe this was not new policies coming in at this time, but referrals and future policies is where this interaction could and would have made you the hero..
The second star is for her office staff whom I feel sorry for.

Was looking for a new insurance company and wanted to get a few estimates. Since I'm local we decided to give this branch a try. When we showed up to the office the front door was locked. This was at around 3pm. We knocked, as they didnt have a doorbell, but no one answered. According to the operating hours they weren't closed for another 3 hours. So I did what every reasonable person would. I called the phone number. A lady answered, not sure who, and asked me how she could help me. I told her that I was looking to get an estimate on car insurance and wanted to schedule and office visit. She ignored my request and asked me for my information. I told her that I did not want to do this over the phone, as im looking for an estimate and don't need hundreds of marketing calls. She again ignored me and pressed for my information, her tone became stern and somewhat rude at this point. I asked her if we really had to do this over the phone and why I can't schedule an office appointment, she again ignored me and pressed for my information. I was fed up at this point and simply told her you know what nevermind thank you bye. She hung up on me mid sentence. The person I talked too, who I believe was the agent, was rude and unprofessional. If you won't listen to me, I already know you won't have my back when I need it. I ended up calling hampshire's branch and within 2 minutes I had an office appointment set up. Don't waste your time here, they clearly don't want or need your patronage.

Bridget has been our agent for many years and has always been extremely helpful and attentive.
