Edward Repper treated my client and me unprofessionally and wasted three months of our time. I don't recommend him to any professionals. I earned my MBA degree and CFA designation and have ten years of experience in Finance. If possible, I would give him a zero-star review. Here is my story. I met Edward Repper via my CPA society events. I listened to his webinar and met him in person at a decent group dinner event. Edward sounded knowledgeable and appeared to be professional in the first two gatherings. His sunshine smile and active listening skill made me think he was responsible and pleasant to work with. I even linked him up with my professional alliance buddy, a well-known CPA accountant in the Asian community, via a Zoom meeting. I wish to generate business for his company.

However, my impression of him turned out to be untrue. I have been providing financial services to a corporate client with 400+ employees, and the founding business owners are close to retirement and actively seeking the best way to save. Therefore, I thought of the pension plan and Edward Repper, the actuary. I initiated a meeting among us, my client, Edward, and me, on September 13th, 2022. The CFO and HR director on the client side actively attended the meeting and made notes. After the meeting, Ed requested information to do the plan design. As a financial professional, you will know that getting information requires a lot of effort, especially for the employee census of 400+ employees.

During the process, Ed did return my calls and emails. I was satisfied with his professionalism at this point. Finally, we managed to get the information for Edward on October 24th, 2022. I emailed him asking if the ball is in our court now. His email automatically responded that he was out of the office. Since then, I have tried to reach him via emails, calls, and voice messages. But I never heard from him. Despite the oddness of radio silence, I still made an excuse for Edward thinking he might be busy with the plan design. Eventually, on November 14th, 2022, Edward got back to me via email. He wrote, "I am not going to be able to help here because the information which is very basic an easy to provide is not be addressed, and this project is far beyond putting together a basic plan design." I was shocked and confused, but I tried to reach him via phone, wishing to resolve it through proper communication. He never answered my calls but texted me back on November 28th, 2022. He wrote, "Unfortunately, as I mentioned previously communicated, I am not going to be able to help this client." BANG! What an effortless text response! This effortlessness comes with costs for my client and me. Three months of precious time has been wasted, thanks to him. Also, I almost lost my client's trust, with whom I had spent a lot of effort building.

Here are three reasons why Ed Repper's service was unprofessional:
Edward Repper, the actuary's responsibility is to advise the client on how much information he needs to complete a basic plan. But he didn't. And he didn't even try to perform his service. My client and I are not actuaries. How can we know how much information is enough?
Edward Repper, the actuary, cherry-picked the client to serve. He could easily walk away from this service engagement sooner than later. If he thought this client was beyond his ability to serve, he should have told me right after the first meeting instead of wasting three months of my client's time.
Edward Repper should issue me an official termination letter instead of emailing me a termination sentence in the second paragraph of an email letter or even texting me.

All in all, I won't recommend Edward Repper and his company to any professionals. Also, I will inform my CPA society and associated parties to whom I introduced Edward Repper about his unprofessional conduct.

I normally don’t write reviews unless I feel extremely happy or unhappy with any product or services. I’m writing this review because I am extremely disappointed and angry with the recent experience with this firm and with Edward. My partner and I were working on a DB plan for a well established company in Manhattan, it was a pleasure to work with Edward on the initial meeting; we then provided him with all the requested information to complete the accounting/actuary part of the plan. He agreed to be working on it and update us with the progress. We started calling him 2-3 weeks in, he stopped answering phone calls nor returning emails, three months later, he emailed us out of nowhere and said “there aren’t enough information, he can’t work on the case anymore”. If this firm or Edward had the least decency or professionalism, he would’ve let us know months earlier, instead of leaving you hanging and wasting your time. He would’ve either tell us that he needed more information to complete the work or simply tell us that he can’t do the work due to its complexity!!! Not only has he wasted our time, he also made us look bad in front of our clients. We’re all financial professionals here, please don’t embarrass yourself, or embarrass us. Avoid at all cost.
