Ive always had a great experience banking with Dieterich Bank in Breese. I opened my account years ago and have always had great experiences with them. Their services are practical and convenient and very safe. I have never had any issues with my money, it always feels safe with the ladies at Dieterich in Breese. I would give them 5 stars with no hesitation!!

Probably should have given 1 star, but I was happy with them at one time. I had used it locally for 15 years, starting as First Bank and then Dieterich when they took over a few years back. Never had any issues until my mom’s account was hacked, and since I shared one with her from my first ever opened checking account, they suggested I close all my accounts there and open new. I did so, and started the painful process of switching all my payments to the new accounts. In doing so, I forgot to switch my payment to American Express. Since I already pulled all my money from the old account, and it wasn’t yet closed, my next payment overdrew the account. They called to let me know, in which I explained the situation and that the money is sitting in another account with the bank. I was told it was possible to waive the fee, but she would have to check. Having never had it happen, I assumed the oversight would have been understood… but nope. They told me they couldn’t waive it, charged me $30 and then I was hit with another $30 from AmEx. I called AmEx and explained, as well. They understood, but said the amount could only be waived if the bank confirmed this was a byproduct of hacking. They didn’t do that. This mess and frustration of it all was enough to make me switch institutions. So, after another round of changing all my payments over to another bank/account in the matter of 4 weeks, I finally thought I was done. After everything was squared away, I went in to have the last of my money transferred to the new bank. I specifically asked if there would be a fee to transfer it, my wife hearing me ask the question, and was told no. Well, another surprise, and another $30 later I was calling to ask why there was a fee. I was told there’s always fees and they didn’t know why I was told that. I again, asked for it to be waived, because had I known I would have withdrew the cash and avoided the fee. Nope.

Shame I had to switch, and the money itself isn’t a big deal, but it’s the “small town bank” feel that they personify doesn’t quite line up with how it was handled. I’m out $90 over silliness, but I’m now banking with a 4.25%apr savings account company, so it’s going to benefit me that they forced me out.

After the big change over at Dieterich their service online and the app are an absolute dumpster fire. Awful. I can hardly ever trust what I see using either. The bank employees in Breese are the best however!

Such a great place to bank! They can print your cards there, the staff is nice and helpful, and they have an awesome banking mobile app. I love this place!

If I could rate zero stars i would. They stole nearly 200 from my account and then closed my account for being overdrawn, which they never told me about.
