I was very excited to find a property on the West Side and was told that I was the first and only applicant. As a well qualified renter, there should have been no issue with my application. I worked with Andrea, who was professional throughout, however, when I asked about the next steps, she told me that her boss Cyndi needed to review my application.

I requested to speak with Cyndi but she was "out of the office" for over a week and I never heard a word from her. I intended to discuss the rental terms, rent price, and other details. They kept me waiting, never returning a call and telling me different reasons that Cyndi was unavailable, even after she returned from being "out of the office". Meanwhile, I saw that the property had a rent reduction on their website and other ad platforms, which means that they didn't want to rent to me, and they were still advertising the property, which is shady.

The next thing I knew, they were saying that there was another applicant, and that the owner went with that application. Cyndi never spoke with me on the phone and was never available. Andrea and another employee were made to mask me from speaking with Cyndi which is incredibly unprofessional, on her part, and is indicative of poor leadership.

I believe that her not speaking with me directly led to me missing the chance to rent the property and as the first applicant I feel that I deserved the chance to at least speak to the "licensed agent".

I have been renting short term places since February due to this procedural failure on Kendall and Potter's part and having a difficult time finding a place.

I'll reach out to the housing authority to discuss my options as I now feel that they put me on the back burner to garner more applicants when there was no reason that my application should not have been considered.

We’ve previously stayed at a property in La Selva Beach through Kendall & Potter and had an amazing experience. However, we just recently stayed at a property in Aptos 779 The Waves and it was a disappointing, horrible experience. The house was just disgusting. The bathrooms smelt like urine and were not clean when we arrived. We had ants attack all of our food in the kitchen and even my children’s toys in the living room. Ants are all on the back deck, so your shoes get covered too. Ants were all over front patio as well. My kids couldn’t play anywhere without getting ants crawling all over them. The beach sand and ocean water is full of kelp and millions of flies so you can’t sit on the beach or go in the water unless you want to be covered in kelp and flies. Hundreds of flies fill the house cover every single window and bathroom. The bottom of my kids feet were filthy from walking on carpet barefoot.
More than half of the electrical sockets don’t work, the plugs just fall out. It was all around just gross and and an unfortunate experience and I can’t believe how much we paid. I am so extremely disappointed that they are charging this much for a completely dated and dirty home. Only positive was the view.

Horrible experience with Kendall Potter. I was living in a privately-managed rental in Capitola for more than 5 years when the landlord passed away. His widow employed Kendall Potter to manage the property. When my lease agreement was up, Kendall Potter proposed a $900 dollar a month rent increase and expected me to live there in the upstairs unit during construction of the downstairs unit. What's more, they expected me to pay for deep carpet cleaning of the area they'd be demolishing during construction. I did not have the financial capacity to consult a lawyer and was forced out of this property. I was nearly unhoused when a good samaritan who owned one rental property offered me a place at the exact rate I told Kendall Potter I could afford. Support local businesses/privately held landlords and stay away from places like Kendall Potter if you can.

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT rent via AIRBNB OR VRBO!!!
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this property management company. While the property we rented thought Airbnb was nice, the host accused us of bringing a dog because of a "dog like smell" at the entry, but proceeded to tell us that they don’t have evidence of this dog on any of the cameras around the property. They told us they will be charging multiple cleaning fees though. I am dumbfounded at this type of behavior. We washed the sand off our feet every time we entered to keep the place clean. We have always been respectful guests at every place we have stayed with my family. I would steer clear of this place unless you want to deal with unfounded accusations after you leave the property. Airbnb ended up denying their ridiculous request, but I guarantee they get away with this all the time!

We had such a great experience with this rental company. Christine in particular was amazing to work with. We rented a gorgeous beach house in Capitola right near the water. This property management was amazing with their communication. An issue came up with the house that was out of anyones control and they stayed on top of things to make it right. Our stay was fabulous. Would highly recommend working with them to find great places to rent 🙂

Kendall and Potter are a local property management company that managed our vacation rental in Aptos for more than 11 years. We did not want to take on the responsibility of managing short term vacation rentals and using Kendall and Potter was a sound choice. Sandra, Rita, and the rest of the staff do an excellent job of managing rentals. They work hard to make sure a rental is ready for guests and if something needs attention or repair, they have contractors and maintenance staff at the ready. Kendall and Potter do an exceptional job of making sure guests have an enjoyable stay and we could rest assured the home was being well care for. We highly recommend them as a property management company and if you are looking for a property to rent!
