Took classes through ASU and dropped out between their A and B terms. Got my financial aid refund for the classes that I was not going to take but then around the holidays I am forced to pay most of the money back to them with an explanation of "we dont like for people to have a positive account, just like a bank". Never going though ASU again

no matter when i call, i never get a person or someone to call me back. there needs to be a better system put in place. You have the automated system say "there are 200 callers ahead of you." Online chat also never connects you to someone. This is the only university i have been to that is like this. Hire more people or just be honest that you do not care about your students and just want our money.

1. Don't have different agents telling me varying things. Unfortunately I am now stuck scrambling trying to find a way to pay $1600 last minute due to one agent telling me that I was eligible for a Pell Grant when I NEVER was. A little more care towards my very specific situation could've helped me make a more informed decision. I am not a financial aid specialist. THEY are. Thats why we come to you.
2. The second Agent tried to their best.
This experience with financial aid has caused me the most stressed and I've worked with other financial aid offices before who had better/ more consistent answers. Please do better for those who rely on you for answers in order to make informed decisions.

After having all kinds of experiences when it comes to using financial aid, Alex, has been the most positive experience. Coming in as a transfer student 3 years ago and never using fafsa, while running into problems left and right it felt like, ASU really knows how to hire helpful and understanding individuals. Money is stressful as it is and now being a senior at ASU, I could not recommend speaking to Alex enough. The amazing professional he is, each visit has been a positive one, even times I came in with frustration. I will say after seeing previous reviews, I understand the frustration of dealing with all this on the telephone or via internet. I am lucky enough to only have a 20-30 minute drive to campus where I can speak with someone face to face. I hope that this good review can help others understand that each person we speak to is only the messenger and they are not the ones we should be upset with.

If I could give 0 stars I would. It is impossible to get a response when you escalate a matter from a live person. It appears that the office is staffed by student employees so when you finally get through to someone on the phone after waiting endlessly - most are not equipped to help or answer anything but the most basic questions to which you could get answers from their website. Each employee has conflicting answers and one is quite rude.

Ive been trying to get a hold of someone for the past week but I cannot seem to get anyone on the phone. I opt in for the call back but never receive anything. Its crazy because you would think a school who charges so much would at least invest into their financial aid department, being that it is one of the most important ones.

Update* surprisingly better. They are more tactful.

If I could give 0, I would.
Their phone experience is horrible, the bot is asking you dumb questions every 10 seconds and it makes me almost go crazy. The people there may be underpaid bc they do NOT have the patience to give you decent human services. They are cold and inpatient.
I would not suggest you to call them if you don’t want to ruin your day’a mood.

The school is amazing, but this office is probably the worse office I have ever spoken too. They have attitudes on the phone, and they are extremely unprofessional. You will wait hours on the phone by the way. One of the representatives try to argue me down that I did not complete my entrance loan counseling when I did, and she finally check and said I did... then said that my check would come direct deposit without even checking if its been verified. Just for them to mail my check to my old address without telling me! They have no sympathy, yall need better representatives ASAP.

UPDATE: after waiting 3 hours, Daniel helped me. So there are good representatives.
