This critique will delve deeper than the initial post, in case the owner comes across it. This establishment is failing to meet the legal requirements for customer service. Upon my arrival, I was informed that a picture of my check needed to be sent to the owner for approval before it could be cashed. The teller took a picture of my check and ID In his phone and, sent a picture of my check and ID to the owner via phone, but I am concerned about the safety of my personal information. Such practices may not be legal for a business, especially considering that my check originated from a legitimate business and was given in its original form. I was informed by the manager that my check was not approved by the owner, who, in this case, is not Fidelity Services who provided a verification number. The owner should familiarize themselves with the Financial Regulation (205 ILCS 405/) Currency Exchange Act. Furthermore, I feel compelled to mention that I am a woman of color in a non-African American community. I am prepared to take further legal action.

I was discriminated against by this establishment and their employees, up to and including the owner! I went into this check cashing center to cash a check from a law firm for a worker’s compensation case I am battling. I had my sleeping one year old in my arms. Out trying to take care of business on this rainy Monday afternoon. Because I had my son in my arms, I couldn’t rip the check from the top of the page and asked the employee to do so (which he never did). The top of the page and checked showed the law firm and information to verify the check, etc. The employee told me he would have to take a picture of my id and the check to get approval from the manager, which I agreed to, even against my better judgement. He walked away with my personal information and chatted on the phone. He then came back and refused to cash my check. Which was extremely surprising! So I asked, why? The employee responded that the manager didn’t feel comfortable cashing my check. And seeing as tho she is also the owner it’s her say so. I gave the employee all the information needed to cash my check with no hesitation. I live only one mile from the location which was clearly on my id and the check! The employee never called the number listed on the check and top of page to verify the check! The check was not an alarming amount. It was barely $400. The employee did not run the check through and get declined. Yet, I was still declined service without clear indication of why. I politely walked out confused and disgusted by his behavior. I called my mother in tears because I was just discriminated upon for no good reason. I dried my tears pulled to Walmart and cashed my check with no issue! And paid half the price to cash my check with Walmart! The reason I didn’t argue with him is because I knew my check was legit and just because he wouldn’t cash it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t get cashed! I just hate I had to go the extra step, when I could’ve gotten helped like the little old blonde lady behind me. I will never recommend this check cashing business to anyone. I am spreading the word to any and everyone I know. It’s 2024! No one should feel discriminated against for no good reason!

JAY IS AWESOME!!

I went to this currency exchange after the DMV told me they didn't do one of the things they are known for doing (car titles) at that location and I would have to go to the city, in a very dangerous part of the city, and wait all day. I am not going to an area I am not familiar with to get something done you are supposed to do.

Anyway, I called this currency exchange and spoke with Jay. She told me to come in and she would get everything straightened out. Jay got everything straightened out in fifteen minutes. She was focused on getting everything just right before I left. She knew what she was doing and explained everything to me so I knew exactly what she was doing. There were a few times where she would break out into a little dance, just four or five moves, small ones, and that brought me such joy. She was clearly enjoying making things right for me. Jay is a joy that no one should miss out on. I am writing this at the end of the day, after visiting the currency exchange and I am still riding the high I was on after leaving. She was so nice and calm and joyful. She deserves to be the highest paid person in this company. I will recommend this currency exchange over any other one in a 100-mile radius. Go here, talk to Jay, and have your day made better.

This place should be able to cash checks regardless of where the customer may live. I was providing all of my legal documents along with a check from state of Illinois and I was still denied service. I dont understood with what we are going through today in this world we still have to battle with places like this. This place should have the proper tools to detect any fraudulent activity. I should have been able to cash my Department of Rehabilitation for Illinois check.

The wonderful employee went above and beyond for me. I was having trouble cashing a check at other places but this wonderful woman quickly solved it for me by calling the issuer of my check and confirming it and cashing it. Neither the bank nor walmart were able to do this.

Tasha was absolutely wonderful and really went out of her way to assist me over the phone after i called countless currency exchanges in the area. She is an asset to the company for sure. Thanks again Tasha
