I have been with Harkness insurance for over 15 years. The first quote Chuck gave me, saved me more than $3,500 over State Farm. I have been a customer since that time. I have always had great service from Chuck and his staff. I'm not sure why anyone would want to go anyplace else for their insurance needs.

UPDATE after 4 years: Still, I am very pleased with this agency and Chuck himself specifically. Excellent service.

UPDATE after 1 year: I continue to be extremely pleased with Chuck as an agent. I email him from time to time with questions or requests to change something on my insurance, and I always have a response back within hours or the next morning if it's late. Erie Insurance has been great, too. I unfortunately had a total loss on a vehicle, but they took care of it wonderfully and paid me a very reasonable price.

I found this insurance agency by chance while looking for an Erie Insurance agent in the area because I had read they are one of the better, smaller insurance companies. I almost didn't bother getting a quote from Erie because I couldn't just do it online, but I'm glad I reached out to Chuck for one because I ended up going with Erie through him for my homeowners and two cars. Erie seems to have a great reputation, and I got some of the best rates overall as well as some of the best coverage.

But what I especially appreciate is the level of service Chuck has provided. He emails me back within an hour usually (during business hours, of course), and he's very fast to come back with quotes once I've given him the information needed. I met him in person to sign the papers for the homeowners and auto policies, and he was very friendly and helpful.

I recommend Erie Insurance based on my research, although time will tell if they live up to the reputation, but I highly recommend Chuck Harkness as an agent.

We've now been insured with Harkness Insurance for 8 years. 3 houses/3 vehicles. Leaving our previous company after many years was the best decision ever! Chuck and the staff are attentive, professional, responsive, experienced, and informed. They have products the other company couldn't provide. Better coverage with better premiums. Chuck and Stephanie have become more like good friends than business associates. I've referred many to Harkness Insurance and they've all thanked me.

The initial discussion was good. The photographer, for the property assessment, came out quick. But that's where the positive ended. The assessor made idiotic assumptions about a roof section that wasn't visible in the pictures someone else took. Concerned about my roof, I called a roofing company that thankfully came right out for a free estimate of the reported damage. There were some problems but none were visible from the ground and definitely not from a picture of the side of my house (the assessor emailed me.) Wanting to express my frustration, I called back to simply tell the company about the inaccurate assessment. I wasn't asking for changes. But she insisted on arguing, refusing to accept my complaint. Frustrated, I finally hung up. Not a good experience.

Update: Both an independent roofer and one brought by my current insurance company concluded there was no damage to my roof requiring replacement and nothing specific in the area the Harkness assessor indicated.

1. Went to file a complaint with Harkness about an unprofessional adjuster I was dealing with and met with an unprofessional agent at Harkness that wanted to defend this adjuster with all her might. I spoke with Kassi.

2. When the policies were signed up for with Harkness, there were 3 people that were all supposed to have the same exact policy. It was found out that this was not the case. Trying to rent a car through the insurance due to an accident was impossible because I only had coverage for comprehensive I think the adjuster said it was for comprehensive and not collision. Either way, they wouldn't pay for a rental car. It was confirmed that the other 2 people's policy had this rental car insurance added for both collision and comprehensive. Great way to find out about this oversight like the time it's needed. So I had to bother family and friends and disturb them for rides or borrow their vehicle. Unacceptable.

Policies were cancelled immediately after the claim was settled and will never return. When cancelled though, they never asked why. Here is why.
