After recieving a solicitation letter from Salami Insurance Agency which was advertsing Erie Insurance, I conacted Mr. Salemi to request a quote for my auto and home. Mr Salemi wasn't available, so the person I spoke with asked a few preliminary questions about my current coverages which I answered. Within a few hours I recieved the requested quotes and also recieved two phone calls from Mr. Salemi. I was truly impressed with his quick response but was surprised they had prepared a quote without first confirming my actual coverage needs. Initially, Mr. Salemi sounded very professional and his demeanor was very respectful. However, I believe the quote I recieved was unusually inflated and I could see there were a number of incorrect assumptions made about the coverages for my home. As I attempted to discuss these revisons, I could sense that Mr. Salemi was becoming frustrated. Because, it was after 4:30 pm on a Friday, I concluded he was probably in a hurry to get off the phone but didn't anticpate the level of unprofessionalism and rudeness that followed. As I was describing a few of the incorrect assumptions about my home (the outer shell is primarily vinyl siding with a front brick facade but was incorrectly clasified as all brick or masonry), Mr. Salemi abrubtly interruptedf me and shouted.. "you obviously don't like the work I've done so why don't you go somewhere else for a quote!" and hung up on me. Since I had already dedicated (wasted?) a few hours to contact Salemi Insurance and review the quotes, I was obviously very disappointed. Even if he felt my being an educated consumer was not to his liking, there is never an ecxcuse for a business person to behave in this manner. In my opinion, this gentlemen needs basic customer service skill and has no business selling insurance on behalf of the Erie Insurance Company.
