Was recommended this credit union by a coworker .. i asked when i scheduled my appointment if a passport was good for use to open an account and i was told yes..I went here to open an account and was told that a passport could not be used.. This is a federal ID and everywhere and I mean everywhere else accepts it as my id.. I feel like there was a bias from the Banker (assistant manager) but I digress. This was a waste of time and very annoying. I went to a different credit union and was able to open my account just fine.

I've had a challenging experience with Cabrillo Credit Union, particularly with representatives Joy and Santiago R, ESPECIALLY Santiago. Despite Cabrillo's generally positive reputation, my interactions have been marked by what I perceived as disrespect, a lack of transparency, and a failure to uphold commitments. I shared sensitive personal and financial information under their guidance, only to feel that our agreement was not honored. Adding to the frustration was being inadvertently included in an internal email chain, without receiving any form of apology for the oversight.

Correcting their mistake became an unnecessary ordeal, further stressing my family and me during a time that already demanded so much of our emotional bandwidth. While I understand that Cabrillo, like any organization, is composed of individuals who strive for excellence but may fall short, the handling of my case left much to be desired. Acknowledgment of their mistake and a simple apology would have gone a long way in mitigating the situation. My expectation from any institution, especially one that deals with as crucial matters as personal and financial information, is a higher standard of conduct and accountability.

The employees at Cabrillo Credit Union are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. I have never had a negative experience there. I have been a member of Cabrillo twice. First when I started my federal career back in 1979 in San Diego, and when I returned to San Diego for my last rotation before retirement. My husband and adult children also keep accounts there. Sounds corny, but they do treat you like friends or family. The credit union exists for the benefit of its member/shareholders, and they hire fantastic people. Highly recommended.

Personalized customer service is tops. The credit union itself offers many products to serve their customers. They have checking, savings, debit and credit cards as well as loans of various types.
