Disappointing and Unprofessional Recruitment Experience!!

I recently applied for the Personal Banker position at Patelco Credit Union -- San Bruno location branch and went through the initial stages of the recruitment process. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing due to poor communication and a lack of professionalism.

After completing a recruiter interview, I waited for three weeks to schedule an in-person interview. Just before the interview, I was informed that the position was no longer available because an internal candidate had been promoted instead. This decision wasted my time and effort, as it could have been communicated much earlier if internal promotion was already being considered.

Having previously worked at Wells Fargo, I can confidently say that we handled such situations far more professionally. At Wells Fargo, internal employees who wish to apply for a new role are required to go through the same formal application process as external candidates. This ensures fairness, avoids bureaucratic confusion, and promotes transparency. Promotions are not decided at the last minute or used as a reason to cancel external interviews, as was the case here.

This experience with Patelco reflects a lack of respect for candidates' time and highlights disorganized recruitment practices. While internal promotions are understandable, the process should have been handled with better clarity and communication.

I hope Patelco improves its recruitment practices to respect candidates and avoid similar situations in the future. This experience has discouraged me from considering future opportunities with this company, and I caution other potential applicants to be prepared for similar treatment.

Review of San Bruno Branch - Patelco Credit Union

I recently visited the San Bruno Branch of Patelco Credit Union, and my experience left a lot to be desired. On August 10, 2024, around 11:21 AM, I went in to complete a simple transaction, but unfortunately, the teller I encountered (teller #GG2) seemed less than enthusiastic about assisting me.

From the moment I approached the counter, I could sense that she was in a rush. It felt like I was being hurried through the process, which made me uncomfortable. When I tried to count my money before handing it over, she abruptly told me that I shouldn’t take the time to do so and that she would count it anyway, implying that I was creating a long line. This lack of patience and understanding was disheartening, especially since I’ve been a loyal member for many years.

As someone who values good customer service, I found this interaction quite disappointing. I’ve had positive experiences at other credit unions where the staff genuinely enjoy helping customers. This recent experience ultimately led me to withdraw my CD and transfer it to Monterra Credit Union, where the tellers are not only friendly but also take the time to ensure that members feel valued.

I hope Patelco takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the customer service experience at the San Bruno Branch. It’s crucial for members to feel appreciated and respected, and I certainly didn’t feel that during my visit.

I came to see a mortgage officer about 7 years ago. She was nice first but after that she never talked me again. I emailed her how I can get a mortgage but she never responded my emails. I went to the brunch several times but she was never available for me. She totally brushed me off because I think I was not qualified for higher mortgage. She made me feel worthless. I was depressed for a while, but my colleague introduced me Guild Mortgage, and they were fantastic. They helped me buy a house. Do not go to Patelco; go to Guild Mortgage. They treat you like a human.

Always a pleasant and positive experience banking here. Everyone is very polite, positive and professional. Victoria was very helpful to me today with my credit card questions and I have the reassurance and confidence to keep my finances here. Highly recommend this location!

I went to deposit money at the ATM for this location and it took money without depositing it into my account! There was an error so it didn't give a receipt. I talked to Patelco and my bank and they weren't able to do anything, so the bank essentially stole my $30. Don't trust Patelco ATM's.

Started using this branch about 6 months ago, yes its not crowded and good service, except suddenly on Thurs. Feb 26 2015 the Manager said that they will not be doing business inside the branch after March 21 because of a Migration and that I should only use the ATM outside. I told her I usually deposit CASH and don't feel safe feeding the ATM cash. She didn't seem to clarify, and handed me a document that actually when I read it said that the Migration was to add features to the ATM. Management at this location is dysfunctional, uninformed, aloof; she really seemed ignorant of Privacy and Information Security issues. I would think they would want customers to come inside otherwise the branch could close down like the one on 2nd Street near Howard in San Francisco!
